I'm an instructional coach and was looking for something to help me get a feel for what my middle and high schoolers are going through. This book is such a gem for teenagers, though it's also helpful for parents as they seek to understand their own teenagers. The stories are engaging and very relatable- makes for a quick read. I love how the author breaks down strategies, using examples from his own life as a teenager, that teens can implement right away. This is a must-read self-help book written so perfectly for teenagers struggling to figure out their place in the world. It would make a great book-study! Teenagers, if you follow the suggestions outlined in this book, your relationships will skyrocket and you'll have such a better sense of who you are- you'll be light years ahead of your peers. Actually, I'm sure many adults would benefit from the strategies offered here as well. :)

I liked Patrick's book very much, it was well thought out and written. I knew him and had wished that I knew about his struggles early on and maybe I could have listened & helped. I recently took a work course on Navigating Difficult Discussions and it was hard to follow but Patrick's book made it easy. Bravo Patrick Nash!!!

I have to say this is probably one of the best books I have read! It is relatable to every reader! The way it’s written makes you stop and actually answer the questions that allow you to get to the depth of difficult conversations and connect and realize feelings that you may have over looked. It is truly an inspirational book and I strongly recommend it to both adults and teenagers!!

This book is geared toward the adolescent. However, it is a valuable read for both youth and the adults that interact with them. Mr. Nash has captured the voice of the student, and offers valuable insights to help both adults and students make their way through some difficult years. I have worked with middle school students for over 45 years, and I strongly recommend this book.

Surviving the Teenage Heart Attack is full of practical advice shown through thought-provoking personal stories. As someone who has worked with teenagers for years, Nash has plenty of material to share. I especially liked his GPS analogy -- Gratitude, (being) Present, and Service. His definition of GPS is full of wisdom for anyone, regardless of their age. I highly recommend this book for parents or anyone who works with youth.

Having had the opportunity to work with Patrick Nash over the past few years it comes as no surprise that he has written such a well thought out and honest book. His work ethic and compassion have changed the culture of our school. I'm personally ecstatic that others will have the opportunity to glean the insight that his dedication to youth has allowed him to present within.

So wish I could have read this as a teenager and then passed it onto my sons. Wonderful messages throughout. Excellent life lessons for teens and beyond. A must read for every teenager and their parents. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed this book! Mr. Nash is a talented writer who is able to “talk” to teenagers on their level. The tone of his book is engaging, humorous, and light, but at the same time, Mr. Nash is able to weave in the important messages throughout his stories He strikes all the important chords for teenagers. His clever use of acronyms is a good way for teens to remember his ideas. I also appreciated how he concisely reviews the important points he is trying to make at the end of each chapter. I will purchase a copy for each of my teenage nieces and nephews; quite frankly, even though teens are his audience, adults can benefit from this book as well.
